California: Citizens fined for wasting water

Due to the ongoing severe drought in California the US-state approved serious water-saving restrictions: As of now residents are not allowed to hose their walkways and driveways, to fill their fountains with drinking water or to overwater their gardens. Violators are now facing fines of up to $500 per day.

This dramatic situation shows that it is essential to save water before it comes to severe water shortage. As per the European Environment Agency, this problem is also heavily increasing in Europe. The main reason being the fact that 20% - 40% of the European water supplies are getting wasted.
